Every so often you get to see a movie that's so much more than just a piece of entertainment. You feel almost like you're bearing witness to something you know exists but that you never really understood. "Beasts of the Southern Wild" is one such movie. This movie is touching, tragic, devastating, and uplifting all at the same time. It tell the story of a community in New Orleans that is so poor it almost seems untouched by the modern world. There are no computers, cell phones, internet lines or television. The most advanced technology they have is electricity - and that too only occasionally. The story is told through the eyes of a young girl named Hushpuppy who seems to be touched with a magical awareness that makes her an almost enlightened figure. She knows that what she endures is difficult, but she also knows that the outside world doesn't have use for someone like her. The movie is really well made and I am sure it will win all kinds of awards next year. If you're lucky enough to be near a theater that's playing it, then please please please go see it! Such movies deserve our wholehearted support. -

This was one of the most unique films I have ever seen and I urge you to see it and tell others about it. This film was absolutely wonderful and magical and i had the best time watching it. The film is original, fresh and it has some beautiful fantasy mixed in with doc**entary style filmmaking. The film affected me in a way that I can not even describe and I was so impressed with the young actress who played the main character. THis is a very powerful film that you will remember for a very long time. -
I really loved this film and highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. This film was wonderful and I have no doubt that I will be seeing it again and again. The film affected me deeply and I really cared about the characters because they were well developed and very likable. THis movie was truly magical and it took me to the wonderful land of the heroine’s imagination, it was a bliss. Quvenzhané Wallis is really superb and one can tell that she is not even acting, it was a pleasure to watch her. Overall, I think this film is wonderful and it is definitely worth seeing in the theaters.
